The Grand Canyon is one destination everyone should see at least once. On a trip to Las Vegas I decided to visti the Grand Canyon via a helicopter tour.  The trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon begins with a scenic helicopter flight over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Fortification Hill and Temple Rock. The pilot on the tour was a great tour guide and he explained all of the the details about each sight we passed while I was able to sit back and enjoy my bird's eye view. The helicopter tour is well worth the cost as it is by far the fastest yet most scenic way to visit the key sections of the canyon especially from Las Vegas.

The flight was really enjoyable and it was interesting looking down onto the beautiful rock formations, the winding rivers and most of all the depths of the Grand Canyon.  One great sight on the trip was the amazing view of the Hoover Dam, it is such an enormous structure.  The dam is just huge even when viewed from a distance and the closer you get the more impressive it is.  I was really impressed with the engineering skills that were requried to build this colossus. I think the dam is an incredible structure located in the middle of nowhere which makes the Hoover Dam a very special attraction.

You can also take a helicopter from Las Vegas to visit the Grand Canyon's West Rim.  At the West Rim, you'll also have the option to walk on the Skywalk, a glass-bottom walkway that extends out over the edge of the Grand Canyon.  This flies you through the majestic Grand Canyon heading towards your primary destination, the Grand Canyon West Rim. Upon landing, the tour company gives you approximately 3.5 hours to explore and take in the various overlooks and highlights of Grand Canyon West Rim. You can even enjoy a meal at the viewpoint of your choice.

At the Grand Canyon, you'll have time to explore its beauty on your own and can even take an optional helicopter tour down to a private bluff in the canyon.  With the optional tour you descend and land 3,500 feet (1066m) below the rim to enjoy the mystique and grandeur of the Grand Canyon from an exclusive landing site only 300 feet (91 meters) above the mighty Colorado River. Make sure to bring your camera for one-of-a-kind photo opportunities and to enjoy this beautiful scenery. The activity lasts approximately 40 minutes and features 20 minutes at the bottom of the canyon. At this spot where I could rest for a while and enjoy my picnic and a glass of champange to celebrate my wonderful trip to The Grand Canyon.  This definitely a must experience excursion if you ever visit Las Vegas!
