Dubrovnik

Croatia

Best Season:

The best time to visit Croatia is the summer, specifically July and August, is the busiest time on Croatia's coast and islands. This is the country's season, a time when the sun is the hottest, the sea the bluest, and traffic endless. The Croatian coast is at its best and worst during midsummer. The crowds can be overwhelming.

Much of the madness is due to traditional European vacation schedules which coincide with the coast's glorious summer weather.

Weather in Croatia generally can be divided into two miniclimates. Northern Croatia has a Continental climate, with average temperatures ranging from near freezing in January to about 77°F (25°C) in August. The coastal areas have a more Mediterranean climate, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-40s in January to 100°F (38°C) or more in August. Spring and autumn are pleasant and mild along the coast, winter inland can be cold and snowy.

When I was trying to decide on my next trip I decided that I wanted visit Croatia primarily to visit Croatia is "Plitvice Lake National Park." This national park is thought by many to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. After some brief research I decided to travel to Croatia for two weeks.  I thought it was a pretty long trip since Croatia is pretty small but I decided. I had to make sure I could see everything Croatia had to offer. I started my trip in Dubrovnik and decided to stay in old town. A brief warning about old town in Dubrovnik - there are a lot of stairs here so make sure you book a hotel that is not on top of the town unless you enjoy the daily workout you will also have to deal with carrying your suitcase up the stairs. I had really bad allergies as soon as I landed so I had a hard time even dragging my bag and looking for the hotel but I was lucky.  Lucky me - I booked a hotel that is right by the main avenue in old town so it was easy and no carrying my suitcase up all of those stairs for me.  After the long flight and checking into the hotel all I wanted to do was sleep.

After long nap I got myself out of bed and decided to go out on the town so I dressed up and looking good headed out to find the ideal place for dinner. After wandering through town and looking at menu after menu I settled on a restaurant that looked like a good fit for my mood and hunger.  I certainly made the right decision - I had the best home-made pasta with black truffles and the best oysters in my life.  The oysters you can get in Dubrovnik are from Ston Island.  These oysters are very famous in town but not many restaurants in old town serve them – again I definitely made the right decision. After a few days I began to feel so fat – believe it or not the food in Croatia is amazing. The seafood in Croatia is hard to beat anywhere in the world so of course I managed to get my fill of Octopus and many kinds of fish and shellfish at each opportunity.

As I am a foodie person. I would take any chances to try all new dishes wherever I travel to, especially some of the authentic dishes. I had a wonderul breakfast experienced in Dubrovnik since I could have a really delicious octopus salad for breakfast! It was so fresh and high quality which I could say that I could never have a better octupus from high end restaurant in the big city like New York. I also love the coffee here, Croatian definitely known for good coffee. In addition to the amazing food, I managed to find the most amazing bar located on a cliff in old town. It was amazingly beautiful. The moon shines so bright every night and you can sit back at the cliff looking out over the water enjoying your drink and watching the big moon shine. I stayed in Dubrovnik for three days mostly swimming, eating and drinking.  Dubrovnik a small town and since the theme of Croatia seems to be walk a bit, swim, sit and chill I did exactly that.  One of my favorite thing was the sunset and dinning cruise. It was a relaxing evening and I love the panorama view of the island. The sunset was gorgeous with its beautiful weather of adriatic ocean was absolutely a wonderful night.

My trip in Dubrovnik was relaxing which I spent most of the time sit back, siping on some rakia and wine and I also took a boat to the island where I could find my spot for sun bathing than jumped into the beautiful blue ocean. This trip was absolutely a great experienced to discover the old town while I could enjoy the best seafood from adriatic sea and even swimming in the blue ocean to refreshing up from a hot summer day. What a beautiful life isn't it?! After three days I decided to take a bus to Korcula, from Dubrovnik to Korcula was a smart way to explore more of the landscape. The bus trip from Dubrovnik to Korcula was fun and I highly recommend it as an exceptional way to see Croatia.
