Croatia

Best Season:

The best time to visit Croatia is the summer, specifically July and August, is the busiest time on Croatia's coast and islands. This is the country's season, a time when the sun is the hottest, the sea the bluest, and traffic endless. The Croatian coast is at its best and worst during midsummer. The crowds can be overwhelming.

Much of the madness is due to traditional European vacation schedules which coincide with the coast's glorious summer weather.

Weather in Croatia generally can be divided into two miniclimates. Northern Croatia has a Continental climate, with average temperatures ranging from near freezing in January to about 77°F (25°C) in August. The coastal areas have a more Mediterranean climate, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-40s in January to 100°F (38°C) or more in August. Spring and autumn are pleasant and mild along the coast, winter inland can be cold and snowy.

As I had been traveling through about three different islands since I arrived in Croatia it was nice to be in landlocked of Spit on my fourth destinations. I arrived to Split and off course I felt in love with its old town of Split. I booked a hotel in the center of Old Town Split, the Jupiter Luxury Hotel. It was so nice to stayed in old town and the hotel was modern insdie. I certainly relax and didn't want to leave the hotel room of my first day of the trip. I love the old town overlooking from my window. There was a small square area with all the tables and with those acient rock building surrouned. It was very unique and magnificent. I totally recommended the jupiter luxury hotel.

I started my first day in old town by walking around fresh market in the morning. I walk around taking pictures. I could not help it but to buy some fresh fruits and tiny tomatoes that I have never seen before. I bought tomatoes from an old lady and she was very kind to let me take her pictures. These were the best smallest tomatoes I ever had, sweet and fresh.  After a walking awhile I found a travel information spot in which to figure out my next step on this trip.

I decided that I wanted to see the city on my first day in Split so I decided to get on city bus tour and we drove around the entire city.  Unlike the New York City bus tours this is not the typical Hop on and Hop Off bus tour.  The bus pretty much just drives around and we had one stop for 15 minutes. It was like a bus tour just get to know the city, after an hour tour then the bus dropped people back in the city.

I love getting to know the city from my first day so I can figure it out what I want to do most. After hop on and hop off bus tour ended. I got back to the old town area and at this point I decided to go to  the fish market. I think it would be interesting to see fish market and as usually I love going to fish market if I could find ones. I follow the city map and finally I found fish market. It wasn't that big but It was interesting. Those daily fresh catch look so fresh and delicious! I wish I could buy them and cook whatever I want too but unfortunately I can't do that at the hotel unless I rent out an apartment with all kitchen equipment. I had a fun time walking around fish market and my favorite sea food of the day was fresh octopus also a big fish!

After the whole interesting of exploring split. I decided to search for a great place for launch. I am very picky when it comes to food. I need to find a great local restaurant that cook great sea food. I finally found a nice restaurant to sit and relax. I love how restaurant in old town got table outside in the small alley. I just love the vibe of it while enjoying my great lunch. This is the best thing today after a bus tour around the city and walking around fish market. Somehow I really enjoying being around old town and enjoy a glass of wine or champagne in the late afternoon and for more in the evening. Split is rich of history and architect makes me feel like I was traveling back in times. It was quite a different experienced compare to other cities around Europe.

Split also have great places for swimming. I took a local bus to the beach and enjoy the rest of the day swimming to refreshing myself in a hot summery day. I just feel like living a great life!

Split old town was my favorite place in Croatia. The old town was mysterious. I enjoyed my stay here a lot. It felt like traveling back in times while enjoying culture, architect and seeing the different of living life style  on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea.
