Best Season:

March - May is my favorite season because of the weather, avergae temperatures range from the mid 30s to the mid 60s and the crowds and prices are off- peak this time of year.

June - August is the peak - season and the city's streets swarm with crowds fo visitors. The prices are high during summer.

September - Octover are the festival season but prices drop and the weather stays mild, making th fall months an attractive time to visit.

It seems like a quiet and peaceful place while it made me so fascinating about history and living life style. It was unique as the old culture and modern culture is living on along together.

Brussels - The Classic City & Iconic Architectures

--- Western Europe ---

First of all I have to mention that I was visiting Brussels long long time ago in 1999. I am pretty sure things may have changes but the beautiful history and architectures of Brussels has been fascinating and old history that dates back to the 11th century always stay the same. An interesting fact is that Belgium is separated into 3 regions mainly due to differences in language French and Dutch speakers.

When I was in Belgium back then in 1999. I was a teenager. I remember that Belgium was a small country in Europe and the city was charming and seem like there were no rush. The city of Brussels was pretty and rich of history but I was very surprise about people life style when I was out of Brussels. People here seems to live very modernly. I could see from people houses from some of good area. Those house were very modern look with cool modern decoration around the house. The fact that I say this because their sense of living life style is pretty different from other neighbor hood countries.

Brussels is a great city to get away for a short time. I was visiting Brussels for about three days. I was traveling from Paris to Brussels by car. It was fun to drive cross country while I could pass on some old town which was interesting. I also learnt the different of Belgium pastry as I compared the Belgium pastry to French since these two countries are so close from each other. The Belgium pasty tense to be much more sweeter and their famous pastry that everyone know is Belgian waffle.

More then just Belgian waffle. One of the most famous attraction of Brussels is the Manneken Pis. The tories of Manneken Pis.One story tells of a tourist father who lost his son in the city and after receiving help from villagers to find the boy, he gifted this statue to them. Another, more daring, tale is one where the boy was a spy during a siege of the city. He literally put out a ploy to bomb the city by urinating on the explosives. Many stories such as this have given the Mannekin Pis a firm place in Brussels’ city-life but none would compete with its present-day glory.

As I mentioned from the begining about modern living life style. This is a great story to make the picture more clear about modernness. There is an iconic building in Brussels called Atomium. It was design by an engineer André Waterkeyn (1917-2005). The spheres, though, were fitted out by the architects André and Jean Polak. This is above all, one of love, the love that the Belgians have for an extraordinary structure symbolising a frame of mind that wittily combines aesthetic daring with technical mastery. The appearance of the Atomium is unusual and unforgettable. It has a rare quality of lifting everyone’s spirits and firing their imagination. The Atomium has become one of the icons of the city of Brussels capital of Europe, with which it has a special relationship. Since its inspired restoration (2006), the landmark that many people call the most Belgian monument, is also a museum with its permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

It was a great time of my three days in Brussels. Even it was a small city but it was rich of history and great mixed between past and modern. The sense of art and mentality of living way here is just different from any other small cities in Europe I have seen.
